Scanlon Apparati

Scanlon Apparati

Cartonnage, diorama, decoupage, silhouette, and gouache; these are the classic techniques employed to bench-make each piece of Scanlon Apparati by paper artist Beth Scanlon.

Her work derives from a personal and romantic interpretation of Seventeenth-Century Italian Baroque decorations created with colored paper and canvas called Apparati. The aim of historical Apparati was to transform a very familiar space into a stage for celebration.

Scanlon Apparati hopes to please the eye with smaller functional pieces of timeless charm.
