Copenhagen based gemologist and goldsmith, Nadia Shelbaya, founded her studio in 2016. Master of Arts in French and Rhetorics from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, she later followed courses in Central Saint Martins in London and trained as a Graduate Gemologist from the renowned GIA in London.
Her Egyptian mother and Danish father are to answer for the tension between decadence and modernism that runs through her work. This plays out in her foray of curvaceous pieces that entwine gold, diamonds and coloured stones. Her pieces has been featured in international magazines and she has developed a devoted following owing to her stunning craftsmanship and novel use of gold and stones. “I create pieces that I myself would love to wear.” Nadia says speaking of her muses, “I want my pieces to be tactile, pleasant to the eye and to have a certain degree of asymmetry to them.” Nadia’s work is intuitive, playful and driven by an genuine love of coloured stones.
